What is a "Network Operating System"?

A job description asks for "Familiarity with network operating systems". I looked it up on wikipedia and I'm confused- does a work environment with all computers sharing the same printer and with access to certain development environments that cannot be accessed (without VPN) out of office count as using a Network Operating System? Wouldn't that include pretty much every work environment and not really depend on the OS??
