Can I get a hoop cartilage piercing?

I got the cartilage in my left ear pierced a while ago and tried to switch the stud to a hoop. It ended up being a pretty bad idea, and I'm going to a different place to get it done (I went to piercing pagoda last time). I just want to clarify that I will be able to get it pierced initially with a hoop rather than a stud and then having to switch it to a hoop. Thanks!
