Edlington parents bad/ Mc Canns good, am I missing something here?

So two parentally neglected kids from a sink estate see their parents vilified in the press, whilst two middle cl parents who lost their child, and left the other two unattended in an empty house, whilst out drinking get unjustified sympathy from the UK press. It makes me sick because both sets of parents are responsible for the fates of their offspring.
