What's good to do in LA for a solo femaile tourist, particularly at night?

I'm going to California for a couple weeks, and my friend who was coming has just backed out so now I'm going solo. I have planned out everthing I want to do during the days, but what is good at night time? I wont have a hire car, so I will be relying on public transport, and I am staying at Banana Bungalows in Hollywood. Any places where its easy to meet people would be nice, otherwise things to do where a solo female wouldnt feel out of place.
